PLAYER SURVEY
All players must complete the Player Survey (by September 21) to confirm your information, reserve a golf cart, request a locker, and submit a tee time request. To make a change, submit the survey again - only your most recent submission will be used.


FORMAT AND CUT INFORMATION

  • Championship. 42nd New York State Men's Mid-Amateur Championship
  • Format. 54-holes of stroke play
  • Cut. There is a cut after 18 and 36 holes to the low-60 and low-30 players and ties, respectively.
  • Ties. A tie for the championship after 54-holes will be decided by a sudden-death playoff. 


PRACTICE ROUNDS
Each player in the field is entitled to one practice round at the Country Club of Buffalo — either the official practice round on Sunday, October 4 or an advance round arranged with the golf shop, not both.

  • Traveling 75+ Miles.  Players whose home residence is 75+ miles from CC of Buffalo have access to play a practice round on Sunday, October 4. Starting times are booked only through this website, starting on Monday, September 21st. These players may also arrange an advance round with the golf shop rather than playing on October 4 - not in addition to it.
  • Traveling less than 75 miles. Your practice round must be played in advance of championship week. Contact the club's golf shop at (716.632.1100), identifying yourself as a player in this field, to find an acceptable date/time for your practice round. 
  • Groupings. You may add up to three other players in the field to your October 4 tee time — but confirm with those players before adding them. Do not remove a player from a tee time without their approval.


STARTING TIMES & GROUPINGS
Will be released to the field on Wednesday, September 30. Players with a scheduling issue can submit a tee time request via the Player Survey

Players must register at CCB by 5:00pm on Sunday, October 4. Players unable to register in-person may complete this form online.

ROUND 1 - CROSSING YOUNGS ROAD

The CCB golf course is bisected by Youngs Road, a busy public road. Holes #2 through #17 are on the east side; the clubhouse, #1 and #18 are on the west. Two tunnels connect the course (from #1 green to #2 tee, and #17 green to#18 tee).

  • Who crosses. All players players starting on #10 - Round 1 only. These players will cross Youngs Road twice: walking to #10 tee to begin your round, and again after finishing play on #9 green.
  • Where. There is one designated crossing point, marked with signage. Do not cross anywhere else.
  • How. Stop at the crossing and wait for safe passage. Cross as a full group - players, caddies and any spectators together. Traffic is heavy at both ends of the day and drivers are not expecting pedestrians.
  • Timing. Allow extra time. Plan to be at the crossing no later than 10 minutes before your starting time.
  • Golf carts do not cross Youngs Road. A route through the golf course (down #18, through the tunnel, and to #10 tee) will be set up, with a map and directional signage provided.


PUSH CARTS ARE NOT PERMITTED
Push carts are NOT permitted at the Country Club of Buffalo. This restriction applies to practice and all championship rounds. Players may walk and carry, use a caddie, or use a golf cart. Please plan accordingly before you travel.

CADDIES

Use of a caddie is permitted but not required. A player may provide his own caddie or secure one through the club:

  • CCB Caddies. Caddies are available through CCB on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact caddie master Nick Plant (716-983-8458) to secure a caddie. Requests are filled in the order received and a caddie is not guaranteed.
  • Bibs. All caddies must wear an NYSGA bib during competition rounds. Bibs are available at the player registration table; a license or credit card is required as a deposit.

 

GOLF CARTS
The use of a golf cart is permitted but not required. Players riding must reserve a cart for Round 1 (see Player Survey). The fee is $41.33 per round and must be paid in the pro shop before each round.

Round 1 - Riders Starting on #10. Carts cannot cross Youngs Road. If you are riding and start on #10, you will drive to the tee via the club's cart tunnel rather than crossing the road. This route takes longer than walking - allow at least 15 extra minutes, plan to leave the clubhouse accordingly. A map will be provided and directional signage will be posted.

NYSGA ONE-SEAT GOLF CART POLICY

The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy will be strictly enforced (click here). 

  • #1 - A player is entitled to one seat in a cart
  • #2 - The seat can be used by the player OR his caddie, both can't ride at the same time
  • #3 -  If only two players are riding, they must take one cart


DRIVING RANGE

The driving range is provided complimentary to players (see schedule for times). The range will be limited distance - restrictions will  be posted here when confirmed.

 

PLAYER LUNCHES

A complimentary lunch is provided to players on Monday - Wednesday. For everyone else, lunch may be purchased using cash or credit. There will be a cash bar.

 

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS

Water bottles and fruit/snacks will be provided on the driving range and golf course for players/caddies only.

 

LOCKER RESERVATION
If you would like use of a locker, please indicate so in the Player Survey.
 

DRESS CODE
Country Club of Buffalo's dress code applies to players, caddies and spectators, on the golf course and in the clubhouse.

  • Players. Collared shirt, with shirt tails tucked at all times. Slacks, or Bermuda shorts no more than two inches above the knee. Cargo shorts, cargo pants and short-sleeve mock turtlenecks are not permitted.
  • Not permitted anywhere on club property. Denim or jeans, cutoffs, tank tops, athletic or jogging apparel, and any clothing that is torn or frayed. Sandals and flip-flops are not appropriate for men.
  • Shoes. Non-metal spikes only.
  • Caddies and spectators. The same standards apply - please make anyone attending with you aware.


SPECTATORS AND CARTS

Spectators are encouraged to attend this Championship follow guidelines consistent with golf competitions. Spectators are expected to maintain a reasonable distance (at least 20 yards) from players and to always walk with or ahead of the group they are following. Spectators must not give players advice, doing so could result in the player being penalized. Spectators who are in breach of these recommendations may be subject to removal from the golf course.

 

The NYSGA will accommodate spectators with an ADA disability by allowing them to ride in their own golf cart. To request this accommodation, a spectator must complete an return the NYSGA Golf Cart Request Form at least 24 hours in advance.

The NYSGA does not have a group hotel rate with any hotels. Below are some hotels in the region, their distance from the golf course:


LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this Championship.

  • RULES OF GOLF; WHEN COMPETITION IS FINAL. Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and R&A. Questions are to be referred to the NYSGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The result of this Championship is final when the Championship trophy has been presented.
  • NYSGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Download the 2026 NYSGA Hard Card (click here).
  • GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS. Model Local Rules G-1 and G-3 are in effect. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).
  • PERSONAL APPEARANCE. Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.

 

PACE OF PLAY

It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. To view the NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy, click here.

 

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during this championship, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the NYSGA.

 

PLAYER CONDUCT

Players and/or their guests must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner at all times. Any excessive display of anger, vulgar language, club throwing, alcohol abuse, illegal drug use, lack of golfing etiquette or disrespect to a fellow player or any other individual may be grounds or disqualification from any tournament. The NYSGA reserves the right to revoke a player's tournament entry, without a refund, at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the NYSGA.

The NYSGA reserves the right to amend any of the conditions, terms, or schedules published for this Championship. The decision of the NYSGA in any matter will be final.
